Sharing Your Life Mission

As Pastor Scott talked about on Sunday (2/7), sharing your life mission is so important in Doing Life Together.  As we practice how to share with our own church family, it becomes easier to share with unbelievers.  So here's to practice!  How has God been working in your life?

It would be so easy for me and for unbelievers to say right now that God has it out for me and my family. For those who don't know, in the space of 12 months, our family lost our maternal granfather, our dad, our maternal grandmother and then our mom. When I tell people about these losses, however, I also tell them that God has also given our family in the same 12 month span another nephew/grandson, good health for the rest of the family overall, another sister-in-law, the strength of true friends who have come along side of us and lifted us up when we could not go on another step. God reveals Himself to me everyday in some little way, whether it's seeing a bald eagle perched up in a snag, or the growth of my bulbs I planted last year, or a "chance" encounter with someone who says the exact thing I need to hear at that moment, or watching my cats play with a toilet paper tube or the plain fact that I wake up every day. I make the choice everyday to acknowledge God's work in my life and sometimes I have to remind myself repeatedly that He refines His children by fire, that His ways are unknowable to us mere mortals, that I will and I have come through these turbulent times stronger than I've ever been. Through the loss of my family, I have been able to minister to others who have been hurting, who have lost family of their own or who are struggling on emotional roller coasters. I don't have it all figured out and believe me, I am so far from perfect, but if I let God shine through my broken life, like a shattered mirror, He refracts His glory much further than I ever could on my own.

Let the one who serves serve in the strength which God supplies that in everything God may get the glory through Jesus Christ.
